چکیده

Abstract A detailed stratigraphic investigation of the intercalation mechanism when graphite electrodes are immersed inside diluted perchloric (HClO 4 ) and sulfuric (H 2 SO electrolytes is obtained by comparing results crystals simply in same acid solutions. By combining time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) in-situ atomic force microscopy (AFM), we provide a picture chemical species involved reaction. The depth intensity profile signals along electrode crystal clearly shows more complex for process, where local morphology basal plane plays crucial role. Solvated anions mostly located within first tens nanometers graphite, but also diffuse buried layers hundreds nanometers, latter process aided presence mesoscopic defects. Residual material from electrolyte solution was found localized well-defined circular spots, which represent preferential interaction areas. Interestingly, blister-like micro-structures similar to those observed on highly oriented pyrolytic (HOPG) surface were layers, confirming equivalence condition underneath layers.

Sulfuric Acid Intercalated Graphite Oxide for Graphene Preparation

Graphene has shown enormous potential for innovation in various research fields. The current chemical approaches based on exfoliation of graphite via graphite oxide (GO) are potential for large-scale synthesis of graphene but suffer from high cost, great operation difficulties, and serious waste discharge. We report a facile preparation of graphene by rapid reduction and expansion exfoliation o...

Surfactant-free exfoliation of graphite in aqueous solutions.

We report an ultrasound exfoliation of graphite in a weakly basic solution to produce multi-layer graphene dispersion. A unique feature of this process is that no surfactant was added to stabilize the exfoliated graphene in water. The concentration of the graphene dispersion prepared by this approach can be up to 0.02 mg mL(-1) and it was stable at room temperature for several months.

C60 Intercalated Graphite as Nanolubricants

We synthesized the novel nanocomposite consisting of alternately stacked single graphene sheets and a C60 monolayer by using the graphite intercalation technique in which alkylamine molecules help intercalate large C60 molecules into the graphite. It is found that the intercalated C60 molecules can rotate in between single graphene sheets by using 13C NMR measurements. The grease with the nanoc...

Supermetallic conductivity in bromine-intercalated graphite

Exposure of highly oriented pyrolytic graphite to bromine vapor gives rise to in-plane charge conductivities which increase monotonically with intercalation time toward values for 6 at % Br that are significantly higher than Cu at temperatures down to 5 K. Magnetotransport, optical reflectivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements confirm that the Br dopes the graphene sheets with holes whi...
